Financial Literacy towards Financial Freedom

“The worst thing you can ever do to yourself is make yourself run out of TIME and MONEY.” These words from Robert Kiyosaki reverberate in my mind. Time and money are great allies, these are factors that affect financial success. When you delay investing you are wasting the great opportunity to be financially independent at the earliest possible time.
I can’t help but laugh at the same time pity people who adamantly refuse to be financially literate. As T. Harv Ecker elaborated in his bestselling book “The Secret of the Millionaire Mind”, he said the RICH people learn how money works and they make money work hard for them. But the POOR people are reluctant to learn about finances and they work hard for money. Ecker said he can tell people’s financial status through the way they think and talk about money. Whenever he invites people to attend his seminars some would profusely refuse and say “I don’t need it!” or “I don’t want to be rich!” these people are broke financially!!!
Rich people spare time and money to procure financial literacy. They attend seminars about finance and investing which help them accumulate wealth. Rich people learn how money works. They are Learn-It-All people no wonder they are rich while most of the poor people are Know-It-All.
The law of learning says we have to be open to learning. Each person we meet every day of our life can teach us something IF ONLY we are open-minded and willing to learn. Try your financial IQ. Do you have updated financial knowledge? I feel very sad whenever I meet people who would still save their money in the bank. Bank is a great place where you can put your emergency or expenses fund but NOT for Retirement Fund.

Why we need to invest for retirement fund? Not forever we have the strength to work hard to support our families and love ones. Time will come strength will desert our tired and work-worn body, what will you do especially if you are not financially independent??? Where will you get some money to support your needs when you get old??? Just an update: Homes for the aged are already crowded!!!
As OFWs we need to be protected. We need to procure some insurance. We can’t tell something unpleasant could happen to us and what will happen to our beloved family who depend on us? If we really love our family we need to protect ourselves. At the end of the month companies pay their workers or employees. We work hard thus we have to practice PAY YOURSELF. Save some little amount and invest for insurance or health care. Take 20% of your salary for your retirement fund. 10% for God through tithing and live on 70%. Is it hard? Yes, but better to experience hardship now than on your old age. SSS, Pag-ibig etc. are good but there are better investments than that. Diversify… don’t put all eggs in one basket. There are more things to learn. Ask financial literate people, read books and attend seminars about finance.
Why walk if you can ride to wealth? There are so many investment vehicles wherein you can invest your hard-earned money with low risk but high rates of returns. With just few thousands of pesos you can fund yourself towards financial freedom. Investing every month for a long term takes a lot of discipline but it will pave the way towards financial independence. To learn more about different investment vehicles come and learn this coming March 12 and 13, 2011. Attend the FREE FINANCIAL LITERACY SEMINAR here in Bangkok. For more details see schedule below.
